Almost 120 participants met up in Berlin at the “Student Congress 2017 – Packaging, Environment, Future”, in order to discuss the sustainable design of packages. The congress attracted students from all over Germany, and was hosted by the German Packaging Institute (dvi) and Der Grüne Punkt. Companies and representatives of non-governmental organizations provided the conferees with information on the latest developments in the world of packaging.
What national and international standardization can achieve for the recycling and design-enhancement of packages was addressed in two presentations by the German Institute for Standardization (DIN), on whose premises the congress was held. Presentations given by participants from the UK and Indonesia reported on the global problem of marine littering and solutional approaches for mastering it.
