For the third time, trade associations in the plastic packaging industry will be choosing the recipient of the “PackTheFuture – Sustainable Plastic Packaging Award”. The aim of the award is to render the potential of plastic packages better-known in Europe and reward ideas of an innovative character. As a supporter of resource-economical, sustainable packaging ideas, Der Grüne Punkt is one of the competition’s patrons this year. On the basis of the specified criteria (innovative character, functionality, ergonomics and environmental benefits), one specialist and one main jury chose the winner in February. Firms could enter their ideas in the following four categories: eco-design, product protection, consumer protection, and saving food. The prize-giving ceremony will be held on 9 May at the interpack trade fair in Düsseldorf (more about the fair on Page 20 of this issue).
